Lung Cancer Screening: #StillHere

Posted on:

Lung cancer screening is offered to those eligible aged 55-74 and who have ever smoked.

Lung cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK and it is the UK’s biggest cause of cancer death. There are around 28,000 lung cancer deaths a year in the UK.

Lung cancer screening can save lives. There are often no signs or symptoms of lung cancer at an early stage, so finding it early through screening, when it’s easier to treat, can improve outcomes.

Currently 75% of cancers found through the lung cancer screening programme have been stage 1 or 2.
